Engagement Announcements

Astound your family and friends with a home made engagement announcement. Instead of buying an expensive engagement or wedding announcement create your own. Your friends and family will be asking you were you bought your invitation.

Materials: Wedding or engagement embellishments, two different colors of cardstock (choose your wedding colors), glue stick or crafters glue, cutting board, ribbon (optional), and computer.

Instructions:

Step One: Once you’ve decided what two colors or cardstock you’d like (one color will be the invitation color that you will print your announcement on and the other color is an accent color) cut the cardstock that you will be printing on so that it measures 7 inches by 5 inches. If you’d like it smaller for mailing purposes that you can shrink the size down to 4 inches by six inches.

Step Two: Print your announcement on your 7×5 cardstock (Visit websites with invitations and announcements to get an idea of how to word your invitation). The sample announcement below reads:

Katie Smith and David Johnson
have become engaged!
Let’s toast to the happy couple over
dinner and drinks.
Saturday, the sixteenth of May
at six o’clock at
Kay’s Steak House.

Regrets Only (555) 555-9725

Step Three: Cut your accent colored cardstock so that it is slightly larger than your invitation. For instance, if your announcement is 7×5 cut the accent piece of cardstock so that it measures 7 1/2 or 8 inches by 5 1/2 or 6 inches (depending on how much of the accent color you want to be shown). Please see sample below for ideas and instructions.

Step Four: Add your embellishments to the announcement.

How to Make Tissue Paper Flowers

These beautiful flowers can add some zing to a tired gift bag or replace the usual bow on a wrapped package. If you would like to get creative you can attach a pipe cleaner to the flower and add it to a vase. Now you have a beautiful paper flower arrangement for any table.

Materials: Tissue Paper (any color you wish), scissors, ruler, pen, and tape.

Step One: You need about four layers of 10×5 tissue paper.

Step Two: Lay the tissue paper flat and fold it like an accordion. Note: This is similar to making paper fans. The folds should be about an inch wide.

Step Three: Once you have folded the tissue paper, put a piece of tape, or rubber band in the middle.

Step Four: Cut the very ends of the tissue into round, pointy, or square edges.

Step Five: Connect the two ends of the tissue paper by taping it where the two ends meet. If you taped the ends together it should resemble a circle.

Step Six: Lift the first layer of tissue paper up towards the middle of the flower, separating it from the other layers. Continue to pull each layer up towards the center. You should have a tissue paper flower!
